....i've been slacking

HI!! I wish we had an excuse as to why we haven't been posting.... like we were busy, on cool trips, had real lives, but really. We've just been lazy. So let me catch you up to speed.

School's been boring without Emily K. Really. I feel compelled to do school work since Mike (new roommate) doesn't like to sit around and watch trashy tv with me as much. But she does come a lot which definitely helps. Our third roommate, Jane, had a going away party a few weeks ago for her move to San Diego (long story.) So Emily came up for that. The initial plan was to stay a weekend buuut it was extended to a 6 day stay due to snow. WOO!

Naturally, the boys were ecstatic to see each other. But things are a little different now that Tuck is about 3x bigger than Sully. Don't worry - Sul still tells him who's boss.  The week was a lot of fun.  Full of class skipping, good restaurant eating, and visiting Starbucks too many times.  The party was good too.  A lot of Jane's friends came that we hadn't seen in a while.  It was bittersweet because we knew it was the last time we'd all be together for a while.... well, until Emily and I go bug Jane out in California :)

The next week or so were full of tests and mundane activities for me. I really can't think of much that happened.  I DID get my grandlittle in my sorority (when did i get so OLD?!) and she's GREAT! So much fun... fits in perfectly with my little and I who are already very, very close.

Before I knew it, Emily was back. Tucker's so big now to where he about knocked them over as they came in the door.  We've gotta find a better way to show his excitement.  That weekend seemed to fly by due to too late of nights and stupid boys.  But we did have fun and took a lot of 8th grade mirror pictures. I know you're all jealous.

The weekend got cut a little short due to my crush party for my sorority.  That was bust.  My dates couldn't make it because of an unannounced soccer try out and snow in West Virginia. Lame. Anyway, I ended up just stealing one of my friend's dates (who I was also friends with) and we had a good time.

Like I said, the weekend flew by. Right now, I'm home on spring break.  I wish I could say that I was going somewhere exotic... literally, anywhere but home.  But I guess I need to start getting used to this whole "i'm a broke college student" ordeal. Maybe next year.... the good news is that I'll hopefully get to see Emily K. (and Sully!!) later this week on a short trip to D.C. Should be interesting so I'll keep you posted on that.

School has been kicking my butt lately.  I really should've talked myself out of taking 18 hours but it'll all pay off when I'm taking electives next year, right? RIGHT?! Good lord I hope so.  These late hours at the library have got to pay off sooner or later.  But I guess the good news is that it's finally getting nice outside! It was almost in the 70's here today! woo hoo!!! That means lots of trips to the dog park and the river for Tuck and I.  I cannot believe my boy will be 6 months on Saturday! He's loving being home and getting spoiled by my mom.  It's going to be hell trying to drag him back to school next weekend.  I'm ready to go back now but he's loving this doggie spa.

See you later, blog world!

Winter Wonderland

As much as I want summer, I have to say that the snow is beautiful. There is something so peaceful about a snowy night.

I've been holed up inside since it hit Friday night. Thankfully I got snowed in at Hugh's with some friends. There has been some cabin fever, a few squabbles, but mainly lots of movies, great conversations, and the occasional drink or two :)

Hugh's dog Beau has been great with Sully (which is incredible since he doesn't like dogs...and thinks he's human.)

We got snow...a lot, well more than we expected. I'd say about 10 inches, and the boys LOVE it! But since it's such a pain drying them off once they're done, there has been limited outside time, poor puppies!

I even got the chance for a much-needed self-pedi!

Hope your weekends were just as fun!

A Long Time Coming

Sully was FINALLY groomed yesterday! Okay, I'm exaggerating slightly, but the boy needed a bath!!

I'll be the first to admit...his hair is crrrazy. Untamable. {{nappy}}

I've always said that if I have children with thick hair I'll have NO idea what to do with it. I, sadly, was cursed with fine hair...hair is not my forte. And my dog's hair is ALL.OVER.THE.PLACE. I'm out of my element.

I'll also admit that I'm a little self-conscious about his hair. I worry that he looks unkept...messy...

So the days that he goes to the groomer are wonderful! He always comes back with halfway normal looking hair. ***Praise the Lord!!!!*** I just wish he could be groomed every day!

The snow is supposedly headed our way this weekend, so I'm busy dusting off the sleds, heading to the grocery store, possibly making some rice crispy treats, and watching far too many episodes of SVU.

Happy Weekend!!!!

Monkey's Signature Move: The Stanky Leg

My sweet boy has a funny habit of popping that little leg up as soon as you scratch anywhere near his belly. I guess it's just his way of showing you how much he LOVES it.

You've gotta love the boy's openness.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Bubblecake

...Our new obsession!

Isn't this the cutest little shop you've ever seen???

As ES mentioned in this post, there is this great little cupcake shop about 30 minutes from Tech in Roanoke, Virginia.

It's called Bubblecake, and is probably the cutest little shop I have ever seen! There are two locations-one downtown, and one on the outskirts of town. Both are equally adorable, and decorated wonderfully.

ES and I had been together once before, but yesterday was the first time I had actually tasted one of their cupcakes...

...Heaven...

If only they would open a shop in Blacksburg!

Long Time No Talk!

Sorry for the delay.... I've been busy with life (not.) and haven't gotten a chance to write so I'll try to recap everything that's been going on!

Christmas was really, really great. It was nice to just have a relaxing day with the family. Christmas Eve is my favorite -- our family goes to my dad's parents in Goochland (haha). The food was good and family was great. We got back just in time for church service and had our annual Christmas movie watching party until we all fell asleep.... around 9:45. Christmas day was very nice. Our grandparents come to our house for a really big lunch and we all just relax in pj's all day. Tuck loooooved it. Mainly because there was tons of wrapping paper to chew up and new people that would pet him. We forgot to take pictures of us! Just of Tucker, but that's ok. All in all, it was perfect.

Kellie got a new bed, so naturally Tuck has assumed that it is also his.

New Year's Eve was ok - what was supposed to be a quiet night with some good friends turned into a huge drama, puke fest with people we barely knew. I didn't stay and it was SO nice to sleep in my own bed :)

A few days after New Years I drove down to Richmond to get my hair cut, see my grandmother... and Emily K. and Sul of course! It was the CUUUUUUTEST thing when the two saw each other. I thought Tucker was going to jump through the glass to get to Sully. I couldn't open the door fast enough. The two romped around in Pete's (my grandmother. Long story) back yard and sniffed the neighbor's dog, Nicholas, through the fence. It was a short visit, but SOOO good to see the two of them and catch up a little.

A little neighbor, yippy white dog wanted in on the action. Hopefully you can spot the little fluff through the pickets.

The rest of break flewwwww by. I worked a little, played with friends a little, and slept. A lot. I got to catch up with friends I hadn't seen in a while and was able to spend a lot of time with Tucker. Which was wonderful :) Break was great and it's good to be back. I had to be back last week to prepare for sorority recruitment. My days are currently filled with sorority sisters, PNM's i have never met before, hot rooms, and hoarse voices. It'll all be worth it soon. Until bid day on Sunday, I can't talk to anyone who may potentially being going through rush, any Rho Gammas (the sorority girls who have to disaffiliate from their chapters to help girls going through recruitment), go out any night, or be seen in any alcohol serving establishment after 9.... including Moes. It's been rough but I only have 4 more days left and I really hope they'll FLYYYY by especially since I haven't had Tucker. Since I've been so busy every single day and barely have been home I decided it wasn't fair to leave Tuck at home in his crate all day. So he's been at "doggie spa", as my mom puts it, romping with Kellie and eating tons and tons of treats. He was only going to stay for a week but my mom has extended it to two because she loves him more than me. I won't be surprised at all if she asks to keep him longer. Seriously, she loves him way more than she loves me.

He's been enjoying life and been hanging out his boxers the whole time.

That's basically been my life these days. Sorority sisters, food, and missing my dog. Emily K. and Sully came to visit last night and are staying through Thursday - I could not be happier! It should be a pretty relaxing week since it's the first week of school and there's no real work yet. Today we had a spur of the moment decision to road trip to Roanoke to go to Bubblecake. MMMMMMMM best decision I've made in a while. I'm going to see if I can talk her into going again later this week... :)

(real Bubblecake cupcakes. delicious, right?!)

Hope you all are having a great week and enjoying the weather! The past two days have been in the 50s and gorgeous. Only a few more weeks until warm weather is here to stay....

The End of a Long Battle

...Well about 6 months long.

After my phone crashed last week, I was told that I wouldn't have a replacement until Monday (today), which turned into tomorrow because of the holiday.

eeeek! I will admit that I am completely addicted to my phone and 4 days without it (especially with some work developments in the works--more on that later) just wouldn't work.

So I rushed over to Verizon the next day to see if they had any replacement phones in stock. HALLELUJAH!!!!! They did! While I was waiting I was sure to tell the poor innocent woman behind the counter how much I H.A.T.E.D. this phone since the day I got it. Loved the touchscreen, hated the delay. I went on and on...poor lady.

I also double checked that the replacement phone would have the updated software (that software that made my old phone crash) which it did.

And I have to say....

I LOVE THIS PHONE!!

It's fast. And conveniently laid out. It doesn't freeze, and it always tells me who's calling. HOOOOORAY!!

Now if I could only get all my contacts back.

PS-Blacksburg today!!!! I can't wait! :)

Long Overdue

So here is my Christmas post...a few weeks late. Sorry!

.A little background.

We've always spent one year with my mom's side of the family for Christmas, and the next with my dad's. My mom's side Christmas would be spent at her parents' house in Richmond, and my dad's would be spent with his mom in the country. Both were wonderful in different ways. About 5 years ago my dad's mom got sick, so we started celebrating at our house in Richmond. About 2 years later my mom's mom got sick...you get the picture. So Christmas was spent at our house in Richmond every year.

Don't get me wrong, I love being able to stay home...
...sleep in my own bed...
...spend time with my friends...
...drive my car...
...snuggle my dog...

But having Christmas at home is no walk in the park. I have been raised by two perfectionists (to put it lightly), which makes entertaining a huuuuuge ordeal.
...That's not an insult...
...Just an observation...

Our 'events' are always quite formal.

Everything is in its place.
Perfectly.
The table is set days in advance.
Outfits are planned.
Dinner is served on time.

So let's just say that the week or so leading up to any event is not too fun.
Keep your distance!!!

But this year, a welcomed change took place.
We went to my mom's brothers for Christmas.
It was wonderful!!

There were things that I missed (mainly Sully), but it was such a stress free holiday!
...We relaxed...
...Enjoyed the time spent together...
...Ate way too much...
...Stayed in our PJs much too late...

It was so fun!

.Knitting was learned.

.Much needed gifts were given.
(if you couldn't tell by the expression on my brother's face, this present was long overdue. let's just say that I caused us to miss a few turns on the trip up to PA)

.Embarrassing moments were had.
(my new shoes were a liiiiittle too big)

.Drinks were poured.
(maybe a few too many)

.Solo's were performed.
(embarrassing a few, impressing many)

And our time in Pennsylvania was ended with some pancakes.

.I'm not so sure he should have been given that spatula.
(ahem, this is the first time I've ever seen him cook...and that was his itty bitty pancake on the griddle. in the picture he was explaining to us that it was his 'test pancake' mmmmhmmmm...)

So we packed up and left PA after a great stay!

There was more Christmas to be celebrated in good 'ole VA.

.That little devil is my nephew, love him.

.And I loved that he loved my gift this year.

And the best part...

.Was being reunited with my boy.

.And my girl too, of course.

I hope you all had an equally wonderful holiday!!

Now bring on summer!!!!!
